John Smythe grew up in Stratford and is the last of six children. John received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at 15 years of age. He is a graduate of Camden County College and Glassboro State College. He lives in West Deptford with his wife, Melody and their four daughters Carolyn, Cathryn, Rachel and Sarah.

Throughout his college years and for the next 10 years, John was involved with the Young Life

ministry reaching kids for Christ in the Camden and Gloucester county area. During this time the Smythe family started coming to Gloucester County Community Church (GCCC). In 1998, John stepped down from an active role in Young Life and into a very active place here at GCCC. John and Melody became our nursery directors. After 4 years in the nursery, John accepted a full time position of Children’s Director. In this position, he is responsible for all children from infant through 5th grade.
